Cat & Clint have etched an indelible mark on the folk and roots scene, with their fresh interpretations of old-time music. With over 15 years experience touring Australia and overseas, they are a well-oiled music machine. The duo lives on Wurundjeri country, on the edge of the Wombat State Forest, in the Great Dividing Range. Drawing inspiration from their natural environment and music gleaned from 78 records, tradition bearers, archival and contemporary music alike, they have built an eclectic repertoire that defies linear time and place. Cat & Clint honour the music of North America’s old time string bands, folk and bluegrass traditions, as well as Australia’s vintage country and bush music, to create a sound that is both old and new, with traditional tunes as well as original works. Their dreamy vocal harmonies shine through on soulful songs telling stories of the human experience through the ages. Cat’s fiddle-powered dance tunes, stately waltzes and mournful instrumentals, are solidly backed by Clint’s driving guitar and 5-string banjo. Drawing from a deep well of creativity, Cat & Clint connect with audiences and invite them on a soul journey with plenty of fun and frivolity.
“Cat & Clint sing and play with joyous passion, spirit and intensity. Their music draws from the past and its great traditions, but they bring it into the modern world in a way that resonates in these increasingly troubled times. Theirs is music of both escapism and confrontation. Simplicity and complexity melded together as songs of beauty. They’re incredibly real and authentic. I love them!” -Stuart Coupe, Music Journalist, Laughing Outlaw Records
“The music Cat & Clint make is both disarming and utterly engaging. They don’t just play these timeless songs, they are totally absorbed in them. Their expression comes from a place deep within that is only accessed by artists who live and breather the music they make.” – Dave Walker, Green South Records
“Cat & Clint are in the top echelon of old time players, and we love having them at festivals, not just for their captivating concert performances, but also for their enthusiasm in leading old time jam sessions. They are an important part of the glue that holds any festival together.” – Andrew Patterson, Newstead Live Festival, Troubadour Wine Bar
